Rosie is a Labrador Retriever!
These short-coated retrievers can have brown, black or "yellow" coats. They weigh between 55-80 pounds and stand 22-25 inches tall. Today they are involved in agility, obedience, confirmation, drug detection, hunting and guide dogs. Their easily maintained coats need only weekly brushing for maintenance. While they can live in a well-protected outdoors kennel, they are more likely to thrive and become an all-round companion if allowed to share the family home!
The young Labrador Retriever is an intelligent, high-energy dog that needs a lot of exercise or it will find "ways" to amuse itself. They need to be in a regular, ongoing training and exercise program or they will gain weight as they get older.
The older Labrador is well-known for their calm, amiable temperament. They are eager to please and do very well in obedience trials, agility and hunt. They are happy to play with the children in the morning and go hunting with the "master" later in the day. They love to swim and will thoroughly enjoy a backyard pool - preferably their own. They will need to be fenced out of human swimming pools, unless arrangements are made for them to get out on their own. A trip to a lake will fill their hearts with untold joy!
We are pleased to welcome Rosie to our practice!
