Midas is a Cavalier King Charles!
The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel originated in the 1600's from crossing small spaniels to toy oriental breeds. They were immensely popular in England amongst the royal classes and became known as the King Charles Spaniel. Their original purpose was to flush small birds and as a lapdog to attract fleas from their owner.
For a short time, during the late 1800's, breeders bred toward a dog with a shorter nose; but a wealthy American approached English breeders in the early 1900's with a prize for the best "pointy-nosed" spaniel, so the old type came back into popularity.
This is a gentle, sweet dog that is playful and willing to please. It is amiable with other dogs and pets and is quiet and affectionate toward its family.
Although the King Charles loves to explore outdoors, it should not be expected to live outside. The long coat needs daily brushing to prevent mats. At under 13” tall, it weighs around 15 to 20 pounds.
We are pleased to welcome Midas to our practice!
