Cooper is a Maine Coon!
The Maine Coon is best known for its large bone structure, rectangular body and long, flowing coat. This is one of the largest breeds of cat - with the males weighing between 15 and 25 pounds and the females weighing up to 15 pounds. They can reach a length of 40 inches, nose to tail. Some Maine Coon tails have been measured at 14 inches, are heavily furred and resemble a raccoon tail. The body is muscular and solid with a broad chest. They are slow to mature and seldom reach their full potential until around 3 years old. the coat is seen in a large variety of colors.
Maine Coons are known for their loving nature, intelligence and kindly disposition. Known as "Gentle Giants", they are particularly good with dogs and children. They tend to consider themselves as quite independent and dignified. Some still have a fascination with water.
The coat can be longhaired or medium. It is usually soft and silky, of various colors and self maintaining because of a light-density undercoat. The coat is dense and water-resistant and longer and shaggier on the underside and rear for extra winter protection. they have heavily furred ears and long tufts of fur growing on their toes to aid in walking on ice and snow.The Maine Coon has larger claws than other cats.
