The Cocker Spaniel and the English Cocker Spaniel were once considered the same dog. (Frequently being born in the same litter and separated by size after birth!) They are called "Land Spaniels", because they are used to flush game and birds. In the last quarter of the 1800’s, the larger spaniels (over 25 pounds) were called English Cockers and the smaller spaniels became known as Cocker Spaniels. The smaller Cocker Spaniels were much preferred in America, while the English prefer a larger dog.
This merry little dog is cheerful and playful. Sensitive and willing to please, it is quite affectionate with the family children, inquisitive and eager for outings in the country. It usually gets along well with other dogs.
This 24-28 pound and under 15" dog will need regular grooming and occasional clipping to maintain it's coat.
We are pleased to welcome Jack and Pepper to our practice!
