The Chihuahua is lively, graceful and small. It can have long or short hair. This saucy little dog desperately hates the cold and will seek warmth wherever it can find it. Its exercise needs can easily be met with indoor play. The short coat needs very little care, but the long coat needs frequent brushing. They may have any color of coat.
Most Chihuahuas stand less than 9" tall and weigh less than 6 pounds, but they can pack a lot of boldness into that tiny frame. On the other hand, some are quite timid.
These little dogs become devoutly attached to their owner and may try to be protective. They’re not very good at it, but they try! They’re usually good with other pets and household members.
Mother Nature usually breeds for sturdiness, average size, and the ability to mix well with other dogs and people. A typical mixed-breed dog will weigh around 40-60 pounds at full growth. A lot depends on the size and structure of the ancestors of your particular dog. Coco has Chihuahua in her ancestry, so she should be smaller. The coat coloring and length will also follow some approximation of the parents. It should be remembered that all "full-bred" dogs were once mixes of other breeds.
