Lexi is a Shiba Inu!
The Shiba Inu has also been referred to as the "Brushwood Dog" It is an ancient breed that came from Japan. There is some evidence that these dogs date back to 300 B.C. and have some Spitz in their background. Their main use was to flush small game and birds. They were nearly lost after World War II, but a concerted effort was made to save the breed.
Shebas need a vigorous daily mental and physical workout. They tend to be bold, self-confident and independent. They are usually charming indoor companions and lively outdoor playmates.
The lovely, fox-colored, double coat needs brushing 2 to 3 times a week to keep the dead fur combed out. The females stand around 14-15" tall and weigh about 16 pounds and the males are slightly taller and heavier.
We are pleased to welcome Lexi to our practice!
