Ace is a Puggle!

A Puggle is a small mixed breed dog that was created by mating a pug and beagle in the hope of producing an energetic hound with a thick body, a deeply wrinkled forehead and a short fawn, tan or black coat. The legs should be short, tail long and curled and the ears drooping. The nose should be longer than the Pug. Because this is a crossbreed dog, some characteristics of either the beagle or the pug may dominate and affect the look or temperament of the dog.

This sweet-tempered, energetic, playful dog weighs between 15 and 35 pounds and stands around 14 inches tall. They are affectionate, love to cuddle and get along with children and other household pets. They can be trained to do basic commands, but can’t – at this time – be shown in AKC events. They tire more quickly than the Beagle, but have more stamina than the Pug.

Some Puggles are very quiet, but others may bark or howl, inheriting the trait from the Beagle. The bark is said to be a mix of a baying hound and the cooing of a pigeon. It’s said they sound like Gizmo from the movie.
